Our Mission
Our goal is to help patients obtain and maintain oral health. While doing so we keep in mind that the goals for our patients vary and we will do our best to meet the individual goals of each patient. We participate in many insurance PPO Programs and although there is a business element to any dental office we keep our fees affordable and respectful of our patient’s financial resources. Many of the staff have worked their entire adult lives with Dr. Cheesman and this low turnover contributes to providing high quality care. We pride ourselves in providing a large number of services with a high level of care.
Did you know?
When you don’t floss, you miss cleaning roughly 35% of your tooth’s surface. Flossing can help prevent gum disease, bad breath, and tooth decay as well as strengthen the gums and improve your overall oral health. Make sure you don’t skip flossing in your oral hygiene routine!
Teeth are the only part of your body that are unable to heal without help. While you can mend a broken or cracked bone back together – you cannot restore enamel or a fractured tooth in the same way. Brushing, flossing, and regular dentist visits are essential to help prevent and detect cavities and other dental issues.
Cavities are the second-most common disease in the United States, surpassed only by the common cold. Risk factors for tooth decay include having a diet high in sugar, poor oral hygiene, and even age – as children and older adults have a higher likelihood of developing tooth decay. About 75% of school children worldwide have active dental cavities. Regular dental visits can help detect and treat tooth decay.
The act of grinding your teeth, or bruxism, can wear your teeth down over time. Most people grind teeth in their sleep, some unknowingly, and it’s often attributable to stress. For those that do suffer from teeth grinding, it’s important to invest in a mouth guard or night guard to help prevent damage to the teeth, improve your overall sleep, and help reduce pain and headaches caused by teeth clenching and grinding.
Dental implants can be a great option for replacing missing teeth! Some benefits of dental implants include increased chewing surface for chewing food, improved speech and enunciation, increased confidence as a result of overall oral appearance, and improved oral health as dental implants can help prevent bone loss and help keep other teeth from shifting.
